FIRST CLASS DIVER
The BSAC's highest diving grade which requires a higher than average
level of theoretical knowledge, organisational and personal diving
skills. The 1st Class Diver award is a culmination of a number of
years' diving experience. BSAC 1st Class Divers are assessed through
nationally conducted examinations.
FIRST CLASS DIVER EXAMINATION

A First Class Diver Study Pack (price £10.00) should be obtained
from BSAC HQ. Contained within the pack is guidance on preparing for
the Examination, back issues of past theory papers, and a FC Theory
Examination Application Form. Completed Application Forms should be
submitted to the First Class Diver Chief Examiner by the specified
closing date - mid-January for the March examination and mid-July
for the September examination.

BSAC Coaches who are themselves First Class Divers will do all they
can to provide tuition to candidates by providing First Class Diver
workshops or tutorials in their Regions. The theory Courses (T)
prepares candidates for First Class Diver or National Instructor
written examinations by working through previous examination papers
and exchanging ideas on a wide range of diving matters. Practical
courses cover the planning and conduct of the sort of dives and dive
tasks that candidates face during First Class Diver and Diver and
National Instructor Examinations.
